The NBA knows how to market its star players as well, if not better, than any other sports league. Now the NBA wants to start promoting them before they get there.
The NBA is launching a new initiative today called "Future Starts Now."
"Future Starts Now" will feature everything from live game coverage and highlights to behind-the-scenes content and player interviews.
The league will also unveil a new dedicated social media handle to help fans follow the action.
Big picture strategy
The NBA wants the app to be a one-stop store for all things basketball, not just NBA content. One way to expand beyond the league. Covering the geniuses who may one day be its face.
We saw this last year when the NBA app started streaming French League games before Victor Wembanyama was the first pick in the draft.
